When I started my studies, I was intrigued by the complexity of legal issues, but I didn’t yet know exactly which direction would be mine. It wasn’t until I became acquainted with intellectual property rights that I realized the significant role they could play for both businesses and innovation. This growing interest led me to Berggren in 2015, when I entered the field as a newcomer.

My first role at Berggren was as a patent specialist. I still remember the comprehensive training I received right from the start—Berggren’s experienced colleagues ensured I had a solid foundation on which to build my skills and career path.

At Berggren, I received comprehensive training right from the beginning, which laid a strong foundation for my professional development.

New opportunities: Becoming a design attorney

In 2019, Berggren offered me the opportunity to complete the design attorney qualification. This was a significant step in my career. Since obtaining the qualification, I have been working with design rights, protecting our clients’ designs both within and outside the EU. Working with design rights has been extremely rewarding, and each project has opened new perspectives on intellectual property.

At Berggren, I have also been able to expand my expertise into the world of domain names. Domain names are an essential part of brand protection, and their importance is highlighted alongside trademarks and designs. When I had the chance to participate in domain name dispute resolution, it reinforced my interest in analyzing and resolving legal matters.

    Combining studies and work

This realization led me to aim for law school, and in 2023, I was accepted into the Faculty of Law at the University of Lapland. The news of my acceptance was warmly received at Berggren. I have received every possible support from my employer to complete my studies and graduate as a lawyer alongside my work.

The option for partial remote work and the ability to manage my own tasks have been crucial factors in enabling me to pursue my studies in Rovaniemi. Berggren’s flexibility and support have allowed me to seamlessly combine my work and studies. Additionally, the incredible encouragement from my colleagues has given me an extra boost in my studies and motivated me forward.

Berggren’s support has made it possible to seamlessly combine my studies and work—without it, this journey would have been much more difficult.

My career path at Berggren has been filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities. I am grateful for all the support and encouragement I have received along the way. I look forward to what the future holds, and I am confident that the opportunities and support Berggren provides will help me achieve my goals in the future as well.
