Berggren has been recognised as one of the leading IP firms in Europe in the latest edition of the IAM Patent 1000 guide. Berggren is the only IP firm in Finland to be recommended in the European Patent Office category.
In addition, the firm is one of only two to receive the guide’s gold recommendation for patent prosecution in the Finland category. The guide also recommends the firm for its patent litigation practice.
As well as recognition for the firm, the guide individually recognises many of our professionals for their exceptional work. Mika Laajalahti, Joni Mikkola, Michael Nielsen, Pirta Tiiro, Outi Virtaharju, and Sakari Värilä are all recommended individuals in the “Finland” category. Michael Nielsen is also recommended for work before the European Patent Office.
The inclusion of both the firm and individuals in the guide in the European Patent Office category is a welcome reflection of the hard work and investment that the firm and its people have put into developing our practice before the European Patent Office. Based on the number of European patent applications published in 2023, Berggren handled roughly the same number of applications before the European Patent Office as the next four largest Finnish firms combined.
